Trent Students Win Both New Awards at Bears' Lair Finale

Trent students Ribat Chowdry and Sana Virgil – those magicians that turned five dollars into $6,300 with their creation Ribbet last November – have just won both new awards at the Bears’ Lair finale held April 21 at The Venue with their new initiative Tectile. The fourth-year Business Administration students took home the FastStart and Women’s Business Network of Peterborough awards in addition to being second runner-up in the competition for which they received $1,000.

Now in its fifth year, Bears’ Lair encourages local entrepreneurship and small business development by giving potential and existing start-ups with a great idea a chance to make their dream a reality. Bob Doornenbal, National Director of Franchise Sales & Marketing for Driving Miss Daisy Senior Services and Chair of the Board for the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce, hosted the evening, which saw six teams in two categories compete for over $90,000 in prizes.
