Trent/Fleming School of Nursing Celebrates Academic Excellence and Best Practice

The Trent/Fleming School of Nursing’s annual award ceremony on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 brought together an impressive group of dedicated students, staff and community partners to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the program.

Among the award recipients were Naomi Cailes and Kristen Goeckel, who were each awarded a Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) Health Professional Student Award Voucher to undertake thesis research. Ms. Cailes will be investigating sex workers’ experiences of health care accessibility and delivery, as well as nurses' experiences caring for this often-stigmatized population. Ms. Goekel will be undertaking a situational analysis of risk in Ontario home care. Both are students of Dr. Michele MacIntosh who is this year’s winner of the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence.

  • Parkinson's Society Dr. Ted Cragg Award: presented to student Jeanette Cheng
  • Nicolls/Civic Alumnae Prize: presented to student Danielle Kohlman
  • Elizabeth Collins Leadership Prize: presented to student Heather Elmy
  • Pat & Doug Vaisey Student Mentoring Award: presented to student Caitlyn Dibello
