The story of Trent University president Dr. Leo Groarke and his brothers, who are all professors with PhDs in Philosophy, is featured in this month’s issue of University Affairs, Canada’s most authoritative source of information about and for Canada’s university community.

The University Affairs article tells the story of the Groarke brothers, from their childhood spent travelling from across Canada, to their diverse, yet strikingly similar, academic journeys and careers, which led them to all become Philosophy professors. The eldest triplet, Paul, now works at St. Thomas University and the youngest, Louis, at St. Francis Xavier University.

Dr. Leo Groarke was installed as Trent's eighth president and vice-chancellor in September 2014. In his speech he reminisced about his childhood and family, saying “the bold and free debate of ideas I experienced growing up was wonderful preparation for a leadership role in a university – an institution which should celebrate the clash of opposing points of view.”
