Highland Heights Public School Plans Adventure Day at Trent Athletics

Highland Heights Public School Plans Adventure Day at Trent Athletics

• November 27, 2014 : 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Highland Heights Public School students will be visiting Trent University’s Athletics Centre November 27 for an Adventure Day, in conjunction with National Sports Day.

About 120 Grades 3-8 students and the Learning and Life Skills class will visit the Athletics Centre from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.  They will be introduced to new experiences that include swimming, water aerobics, rock wall, spin classes, broomball, the rowing tank, dance and movement, squash, a drumlin hike, lacrosse and  badminton.

The purpose of the event is to have students try new physical activities which, in turn, support mental health.  Inclusion is also a major part of the event, as it will involve students of all ability levels.

The Peterborough County-City Health Unit is supporting the event financially.

Other physically active events will be organized for Junior Kindergarten to Grade 2 students, who will be staying at the school for the day.
