Trent University’s Dr. Suresh Narine Featured in Research Matters Campaign

The Research Matters campaign led by the Council of Ontario Universities is highlighting how important research taking place at 21 publicly funded universities affects us every day, and Trent University’s story features Dr. Suresh Narine.

Director of the Trent Centre for Biomaterials Research, Dr. Narine is getting out into the community with the Research Matters campaign, telling the story of how biomaterials can recreate the materials of our world sustainably.

Launched on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the COU booth of the OCE Discovery Conference, the Research Matters campaign showcases a website and blog featuring new stories and ideas emerging from Ontario university research. The campaign, which will speak to daily issues and reflect the full diversity of university research, will continue through 2012-2013 with public events held around the province designed to allow the public to engage directly with researchers.

Centres of Research at Trent
Trent University is dedicated to research excellence, with twelve unique centres that foster research and collaboration in the academic community, including the Natural Resources DNA Profiling and Forensic Centre, the Institute for Watershed Sciences and the Centre for the Study of Theory, Culture & Politics. See www.trentu.ca/research/about_centres.php for a full list.

Canada Research Chairs at Trent
Trent University’s nine Canada Research Chairs in areas such as Aboriginal Arts & Literatures, Environmental Modelling and Emotion & Health, contribute to enhancing Canada’s competitiveness in the global, knowledge-based economy, improving Canadians’ health and enriching our social and cultural life. As federal and provincial governments continue to make knowledge transfer and outreach a priority for post-secondary institutions, Trent is well positioned to excel and to further its reputation both nationally and internationally.

Trent University is among Ontario’s universities, which employ thousands of researchers, making this province home to one of the richest, most prestigious, varied and collaborative research environments in the world.
