Dr. Steven E. Franklin, Trent president and vice chancellor, along with Chancellor Tom Jackson joined Trent University alumni at a cocktail reception at the 7 1/4 Bistro in Winnipeg on Monday May 7, 2012.
Alumni gathered and connected with the president to hear what’s new at Trent while enjoying a special musical performance by Tom Jackson. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and refreshments were served thanks to the generous sponsorship of TD Meloche Monnex.
Dr. Franklin brought his family to the event, where he provided an update to the Winnipeg community about the renewal of Trent's planning processes, which has already resulted in "Toward A Sustainable Future: The First Integrated Plan for Trent University (2010-2015)", and Trent's First Academic Plan.
Chancellor Tom Jackson has been chancellor of Trent University since 2009. Born on the One Arrow reserve in Saskatchewan and raised in Winnipeg, Tom Jackson left school at the age of 15 and spent seven years living on the back streets of Winnipeg. As a singer and songwriter, Mr. Jackson has recorded 14 albums, two of which have received Juno nominations.
