Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal Awarded to Vanier Emeritus Professor Tom Symons

Trent University’s founding president and Vanier Professor Emeritus Tom Symons was among 37 Ontarians awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal at a ceremony at Queen’s Park on Monday, February 6, 2012.

The medal was created as a way for Canada to honour the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II accession to the Throne and was awarded to 60 Canadians in total who have made significant contributions to Canada and to communities within Canada.

Trent University Professor Emeritus Marlene Brant Castellano and honorary degree recipients John Kim Bell and Natalie MacMaster were also awarded with the Diamond Jubilee Medal. 

Professor Symons was also conferred with the title of Knight in the Order of Saint Sylvester at the first convocation of Sacred Heart College in Peterborough on Friday, February 3, 2012.

The Trent University community extends heartfelt congratulations to Professor Symons for these honours.
