One of Trent’s Environmental and Life Sciences Ph.D. students, John Benson is going to be on the Discovery Channel at 7 p.m. on December 7, 2011, for his research on wolves.

Mr. Benson is studying hybridization between wolves and coyotes in and around Algonquin Park.  The project is a collaborative research effort between Trent and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. Mr. Benson’s intensive fieldwork began in 2008 and was completed in May 2011.  Now he is analyzing his data and writing about his findings at Trent. The goal is to learn about the mechanisms underlying cross-breeding between wolves and coyotes and the implications for wolf conservation.
