Wondering what it’s like to be a Trent student? Wonder no longer thanks to Trent University’s innovative new display and the faculty, staff and students staffing it at the Ontario Universities’ Fair (OUF) this coming weekend, September 25-27, 2015, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Over the course of the free three-day OUF event, 130,000 visitors are expected to attend to find out more about Trent in Peterborough and Durham and 20 other universities from across Ontario. While at the Trent University booth or presentation room, students can enter for a chance to win first-year tuition free. Every time they attend a Trent presentation at their school or visit campus for tours or events following OUF, students can enter again and again to increase their chances of winning.

Trent University leaders, including President Leo Groarke, along with dozens of faculty, current students and staff will entertain questions from thousands of high school students at OUF. A spectacular 90 x 25-foot booth features vast images of Trent’s stunning campuses as well as lists of new and existing programs in Peterborough and Durham.

A 30' video wall embedded in the booth features images and highlights on leading student satisfaction results, generous scholarships, and top rankings such as Trent’s well-known #1 in Ontario ranking among undergraduate universities in Ontario by Maclean’s. A full-size rowing scull is a focal point of the massive display where varsity athletes will answer questions about Athletics and Recreation. At a break-out room, students and their parents can sit in on a 20 minute multi-media presentation that provides more detail.

“Our fall recruitment season essentially kicks off with the Ontario Universities’ Fair and this year we’ll make a bold impression with an exceptional new display and presentation,” said Marilyn Burns, executive director of Marketing & Communications, Recruitment & Admissions at Trent University. “Trent’s growing presence and innovative new programming in both Peterborough and Durham are turning heads with prospective students. With the extension of the 407, Trent’s two campuses are closer than ever for students from the GTA and beyond – and our enrollment advisors are primed to share the reasons students should seriously consider the advantages of Trent’s personalized, uniquely interactive learning experience.”

Trent has been attending the OUF since the fair’s inception in 1997 as a way to help secondary students gather information about programs, student life, residences, financial aid, work-study opportunities, study abroad and admission requirements.

With two locations, Trent University in Peterborough and Trent University Durham in Oshawa, and new programs coming on board all the time, Trent has a great story to tell. In Peterborough, new residences at the north end of Peterborough will soon be complemented by a brand new Student Centre, as well as a ball diamond and arena in partnership with the City of Peterborough. The launch of two new schools, the School of the Environment and the School for the Study of Canada, provides students with more opportunity than ever to explore studies in two well-known areas of expertise at Trent.

In Durham, program expansion has taken off with a new B.A. in Child and Youth Studies/Care, a B.A. in Communications & Critical Thinking, a B.A. in Media Studies, and Human Resources Management Certificate.
