Book Now for New Student Orientation
June 6, 2007

New Student Orientation (NSO) is a program hosted by Trent University to ease the transition to the university environment. In its fifth consecutive year, the program has been found to be beneficial to new students and their parents/guardians.

Beginning July 12 and running Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays until August 17, the New Student Orientation program will bring new first-year students from across Ontario to Trent University to learn about course registration, campus life, Introductory Seminar Week and housing services. Students will also have the opportunity to take a tour, sign their residence contracts, have their photo taken for their student card, and learn about financial aid opportunities.

"New Student Orientation is very important for all new Trent students, as it helps them transition to university life," said Heather Johnston, NSO coordinator. "In a one day session over the summer, new students and their parents, are able to have all of their questions answered. This helps to lessen anxiety, while making students feel more comfortable in their new environment. This is very helpful for new students as it allows them to have personal contact with current Trent students and other new students."

The New Student Orientation Program is run by seven upper-year Trent students who each offer a unique perspective to incoming students on Trent University life.

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact the NSO staff at (705)748-1011 ext.7888 or at orientation@trentu.ca. Further information, including a schedule of the appointment day and an online booking form, can be found on the New Student Orientation website.
