TMSA Hosts Islam Awareness Week at Trent University

The Trent Muslim Students Association invites faculty, students and members of the community to take part in the many events planned for Islam Awareness Week on campus from February 26 to March 2. This year’s theme is "Jihad: The Struggle in the Way of Allah".
This is a unique opportunity to learn more about Islamic culture though a diverse series of activities, including henna demonstrations, guest speakers, Arabic language lessons, film screenings, and much more. All events are free of charge and open to the public.

Monday, February 26
Henna - decorate your body with Henna - from 1 pm to 5 pm at Bata Library
Arabic Language class - from 5 pm to 7 pm at Gzowski College Room 106
"Discover Islam" – all-week poster exhibition at Gzowski College
Tuesday, February 27
Henna - decorate your body with Henna - from 9 am to 12 pm at Bata Library
Guest speaker Mohamed Robert Heft President will present "Jihad vs. terrori sm" - from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Gzowski College, FPHL Room 117.
"Discover Islam" – all-week poster exhibition at Otonabee College
Wednesday, February 28
Guest speaker Mohamed Robert Heft will present "Concept of God in Islam" -from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Gzowski College Room 110

Thursday, March 1
Movie screening "Islam: Empire of Faith" is a documentary series, made in 2000, that details the history of Islam, from the birth of Mohammed to the birth of the Ottoman Empire, narrated by Ben Kingsley - from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Gzowski College Room 114
