TISA Charity Dinner a Successful Festival of Flavours
January 1, 2007
Hot Latin dishes, tantalizing South East Asian food with spicy curry, and delicious fried rice were just a few of the dishes featured at the Mama’s Kitchen International Charity Dinner on Saturday, January 27 at Trinity Banquet Hall. The successful event accomplished its mission of uniting the Trent international community around a common worldwide element: food.
Throughout the night it was possible not just to see full stomachs, but also a variety of acts that accompanied each of the dishes. International comedians along with salsa and belly dancing performances complemented the dinner by bringing an additional feature of multiculturalism.
In past years, the Trent International Students Association (TISA) has organized the event as a potluck on Trent c ampus, but this year TISA decided to create an international dinner in the heart of downtown Peterborough. As a result, the event attracted a number of international and Canadian students, faculty members from Trent University, graduate students, and alumni from all over the community.
All proceeds from the event were donated to World University Services Canada (WUSC). For more information about future events, please visit the TISA website.back
