Peace Event Marks September 11
Peace tree planted at Trent
President Bonnie Patterson addressed the gathering, as did Ivana Elbl, head of Otonabee College and professor in the Department of History, and Vern Douglas of the Trent Native Studies Department.
Vern reflected on the events of September 11 and spoke about the symbolic peace tree which has been planted in front of Wenjack Theatre at the turning circle, at the southeast corner of Parking Lot R at Otonabee College. Each participant at the ceremony was able to place a handful of dirt beneath the tree.
