Margaret Laurence lecturer sought

Wanted: A distinguished speaker to address women's involvement in peace, ecology, literature and/or feminism.

Nominations are invited for the year 2000 Margaret Laurence Lecture, an annual public lecture, funded by a combination of a generous private endowment and money from the Canadian Studies Directorate of the Secretary of State. Nominations, along with any relevant helpful information, may be sent to the Margaret Laurence Lecture Committee Chair, Joan Sangster, Chair, Women's Studies, at Eaton College. The deadline is Oct. 15.

Previous Laurence lecturers have included Maureen Norbese Philips an award-winning poet, novelist, essayist, and social activist; Marlene Brant Castellano, retired Trent Native Studies professor (1973-1991) and a co-director of research for the Royal Commission on Aboriginal People, and actor, writer, director, and social activist Mary Walsh, who appears on the television show This Hour Has 22 Minutes and who has won three Gemini awards for excellence in comedy writing and performance.
