George Elliott Clarke A professor of Canadian Studies at Duke University, Clarke is a poet, editor, and exponent of Black Culture. At 7 pm at Traill College, Clarke will give a lecture entitled "Unsettling Canadian Studies"; at 8:30 pm, he will read from his poetry. Both the lecture and poetry reading will be at Traill College Lecture Hall. All are welcome to attend these events and the reception after poetry reading sponsored by the Office of the Vice-President, Academic. This event is sponsored by Traill College and the Canadian Studies Program.

Charlie Foran and Myrna Kostash give a joint reading. Foran will be reading from his memoir The Story of My Life (So Far) and Kostash from The Doomed Bridegroom, 7:30 p.m. Traill College SCR.

Baroque to Butterworth: Songs by Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel, and Some Early 20th-Century Composers George Hamilton (cello), Gordon Johnston (piano/harpsichord), and James Neufeld (tenor) present a musical evening at the Gordon Best Theatre, starting at 8 pm. Co-sponsored by Traill and Otonabee Colleges.

Reading/Talk by writer and journalist Elaine Kalman Naves Naves will be discussing her book Journey to Vaja: Reconstructing the World of a Hungarian-Jewish Family, winner of the 1998 Elie Wiesel Prize for Holocaust Literature. 4:30 pm, Traill College JCR, Scott House.
