Science fair offers great prizes

Students from throughout the Kawarthas will converge on Trent University April 11 for the 30th annual Peterborough Regional Science Fair.

The science fair welcomes contestants from kindergarten through to oac level, and includes all the sciences, said fair director Huda Al Haddad of Trent's chemistry department, who is supported in organizing the event by several other staff members.

Past competitions have seen budding researchers explore topics as varied as the effects of flooding on waterfowl and the possibility of converting waste rubber into housing.

This year's fair features more prizes and cash awards than ever before, said Al Haddad. Top place finishers will receive an expense paid weeklong trip to compete in the Canada wide science fair in London, Ontario.

For ideas and suggestions, students are invited to contact the science fair Web site, at: www.lakefieldcs.on.ca/sciencefair/.
