Dyment is a writer's best friend

Noted Canadian author Margaret Dyment will return to Trent University this September as writer in residence.

Dyment, a widely published author and highly successful teacher of writing, spent two weeks at Champlain College in February, offering writing workshops as well as consultation to Trent students.

Trent English professor and Champlain College head Stephen Brown described Dyment as a "magnificent teacher of writing" as well as an accomplished author of short stories, magazine articles and poetry. She will conduct writing workshops both for Trent students and the community at large, with a special emphasis on helping organizations develop written material which articulates their position and needs.

Her residency, for a period of up to six months, was made possible by a Canada Council grant - the fourth received by Trent in the past five years, said Brown.
