First winners of new scholarships

The Committee on Graduate Studies has selected three graduate students as Trent's first winners of the new Ontario Graduate Scholarships in Science and Technology (ogsst). Trent will be provided with $20,000 from the Ministry of Education and Training for two awards, which will be combined with $10,000 in funds donated by Aramark, for a total award of $30,000.

Winners of $10,000 awards each for 1998-99 are: Brian K. Dimrock, M.Sc., Watershed Ecosystems (B.Sc., Carleton); Wenying Feng, M.Sc., Modelling (Ph.D. Glasgow) and Nancy Van Stone, M.Sc., Watershed Ecosystems (B.Sc. Dalhousie).

To be eligible, students must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, enrolled in a full-time research graduate program (M.Sc., years 1 and 2, Ph.D., years 1-3), exhibit overall academic excellence, with a minimum of 80 per cent during the last two full years of study, and demonstrate research ability or potential.
