Trent Report Online

Native Studies anniversary marked

The Native Studies Elders' Gathering event will be held at Trent from Friday, February 18 to Sunday, February 20 and celebrate 30 years of Native Studies at Trent. It will also acknowledge some of the Elders who have contributed so much to the Native Studies program.

The Elders' Gathering is held to allow Trent students access to the teaching of the various aboriginal nations, through their elders. The event is also free, open to the public and all are welcome.

Details will soon be available on the Trent Web site, or contact Paul Bourgeois in Native Studies.

Complementing the anniversary of Native Studies at Trent, the university has introduced a PhD program in Native Studies this academic year. Trent's is the only Native Studies PhD program in Canada, and just the second in North America.
