Book marks donor's loving memories

Each year on the anniversary of her late father's birth, Dorothy Sharpe of Peterborough donates a book to Bata Library in the Bancroft man's memory.

Alexander Tinney, who was born Feb. 10, 1908, is remembered by a growing collection of books dedicated to the Irish immigrant. Previous donations include six books on Tinney's many interests, including Irish history, poetry and geology.

Mrs. Sharpe and her grandson, Alexander Beatty, returned to Trent this year on Feb. 10 for their annual donation through the Development Office in Blackburn Hall. Alexander, age 10, contributed a share towards the purchase of this year's book.

Shown with Mrs. Sharpe and her grandson is a framed photo of Alex Tinney. Alexander Beatty holds photos of his great-grandfather taken when he was a little older than Alexander.
