Terrific news for Trent - applications up 25 per cent

The first of the monthly reports indicates a 25 per cent overall increase in secondary school student applications for Trent this fall.

The Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) statistics indicate total applications for 2000 entrance to Ontario's universities are up 6.6 per cent over the year prior. Trent as a first choice is up 27 per cent, 29 per cent as a second choice, and 17 per cent as a third choice.

"This is terrific news for Trent University as we turn the corner on a few years of declines in application numbers," said President Bonnie Patterson. "It is important to recognize that in the coming months we will still need to offer admission to qualified students, and in turn, students have to accept our offers. I am delighted, however, with the degree of secondary student interest in Trent's outstanding undergraduate liberal arts and sciences programs as evidenced by these numbers."
