The Conference Centre:
Bringing the World to Trent

Conference Centre StaffAnyone under the impression the university is winding down for the summer months might want to visit the Conferences office. You'll soon find out, they're just gearing up. The Conference Centre at Trent is a hive of activity all year round-and the summer months can be the busiest of all, if the calendar in Director Ash Kaushik's office is any indication.

From May through to the end of August, groups and individuals plan events at Trent and the Conference Centre is their first contact with the university. That's why Kaushik and his staff, Marie Anderson and Lori Johnston work on a customer -based philosophy they practice daily. A fascinating array of events is planned over the next few months from the Pony Club Conference to Kosta Canada, a gathering for Korean Youth. A conference for Harley Owners is scheduled for August 1st and includes camping on campus.

The Conference Centre's staff are so popular with groups and individuals alike, repeat business is a given. The Ministry of Natural Resources will train its Junior Forest Rangers here for the third time, but the Trent School of Rug Hookers beat them by far; they're holding their gathering at the university for the 29th year in a row!

It's no wonder, what with the breathtaking surroundings of the campus and the excellent service. As Kaushik says, "We believe a satisfied client is the best guarantee of future revenue and the best free advertising you will ever get. Every group or event is unique and conference planners must be the most flexible individuals on any campus. We live by the adage 'If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.'"
