Trent Registrar Appointed Vice President of the Ontario University Registrars' Association

Trent University is pleased to announce that its Registrar, Susan Salusbury, has been elected to the position of Vice President of the Ontario University Registrars' Association (OURA).

OURA is a professional organization that provides administrative staff working in registrarial areas with a forum to discuss common issues of concern, including admissions, registration, systems, scholarships and awards, secondary school liaison and graduate studies.

In the past, OURA has been responsible for implementing various projects, including INFO magazine (for high school students and guidance counsellors), the Ontario University Fair, and the EDI project for transmitting electronic transcripts. As well, OURA provided advice on policy issues to government ministries and the Council of Ontario Universities, and organizes professional development opportunities for its members. All universities in Ontario are members of OURA and pay an annual fee. After one year, the Vice-President automatically assumes the role of President of the organization and is considered its official spokesperson for the group.

"I consider participation on the executive of professional groups to be of major importance, both to increase visibility of Trent University, but also to participate in policy decisions directly affecting the university that I am proud to represent," says Salusbury.

Salusbury begins her volunteer duties with the provincial organization effective April 1, 2002.
