Media Invited to Palliative Care Education Day

Forum organized by Trent Fleming Nursing Program and Hospice Peterborough

Media are invited to attend a special education day about palliative care entitled "Quality End of Life Care: The Right of Every Canadian."

The day's agenda features an address by Senator Sharon Carstairs, P.C., Leader of the Government in the Senate and Minister with Special Responsibility for Palliative Care.

Senator Carstairs will address issues arising from the recent Canadian Senate Report on Palliative Care.

Also included on the agenda is a panel presentation featuring Dr. John Beamish, family physician and palliative care physician, Ellen Desbiens, Director of Client Services, Peterborough Community Access Care, and Theresa Morris, Palliative Care Nurse Consultant with the Peterborough Regional Hospital Centre.

Dr. Cheryl A. McCullogh will conclude the agenda after lunch by reviewing the complex issues affecting decision making at the end of life.
