Trent University Writer-in-Residence Michael Johansen to give Public Reading

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Confession in Moscow Author to Read at Trent Bookstore on March 23

Thursday, March 16, 2006, Peterborough

The Trent University Bookstore is pleased to be hosting a free, public reading by writer- and alumnus-in-residence, Michael Johansen, on Thursday, March 23 at 3:00 p.m. in the Symons campus bookstore.

During his appearance, Mr. Johansen will read from his novel, Confession in Moscow, a gripping tale of a man who turns himself in at a police station in Moscow to confess to a murder he apparently committed as a ten-year-old boy in the last days of World War II on Bornholm Island in Denmark. The novel draws from a little-known historical event – when the Soviet Union bombed the German-occupied Dane island.

Mr. Johansen, who graduated from Trent in 1989, has been writer-in-residence at Trent since the fall of 2005. For over a decade Mr. Johansen was a print and radio journalist, reporting news and writing columns for newspapers across Canada and abroad. He was born in Toronto and now calls Labrador home. Mr. Johansen is currently working on his second novel, entitled Separation Point.

The reading is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served and each person in attendance will be eligible to win a $25 gift certificate for the Trent University Bookstore. Copies of Confession in Moscow will also be available for sale.
