Women's Studies Research Day Being Held at Trent University March 10

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Faculty to Discuss New Research in Areas Including Euthanasia, Native Writing, and Climate Change

Wednesday, March 1, 2006, Peterborough

Trent University's Women's Studies Program will be holding its second annual Research Day, aimed at showcasing the new research being undertaken by faculty interested in Women's Studies, on Friday, March 10 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the "Pit" at Lady Eaton College on the Symons campus.

The annual Women's Studies Research Day is organized to give faculty and associated faculty the opportunity to speak about their research, in turn demonstrating the breadth of what constitutes research in the field of Women's Studies. In addition, the Research Day is also held as part of a larger series of events designed to celebrate International Women's Day (March 8).

Throughout the afternoon, six professors associated with the Women's Studies Program will be discussing their papers which address a wide range of research activities and topics, including: energy and climate change from a feminist perspective, euthanasia, native women's writing, and feminist legal theory.

"Papers to be presented at this year's Women's Studies Research Day highlight the complex intertwining of feminist theory and anti-racist thinking as it speaks to a wide range of social justice, environmental, legal and pedagogical issues," said Professor Julia Harrison, Chair of Women's Studies.
