New Foot Reflexology Certification Course

(Peterborough) The Continuing Education Department at Trent University is now offering a Foot Reflexology Certification Course.

Foot Reflexology is a focused pressure technique based on the premise that there are zones and reflexes on the feet which correspond to all parts, organs and glands of the entire body. 

Benefits include deep relaxation and removal of stress, enhancement of the body's circulation, better normalization of metabolism and complements to other healing modalities.

This certification course is designed for persons of all ages who have an interest in health and wellness, including those who wish to become full or part-time certified practicing reflexologists.

Officially recognized by the Reflexology Registration Council of Ontario (RRCO), the course focuses on the basic understanding of anatomy and physiology as it applies to foot reflexology and practical methodology. No prerequisites are necessary.

The course curriculum will include a combination of 35 hours of in-class instruction, 35 hours of independent study and 130 hours of practicum.

Topics studied will include: History & Theory of Reflexology; Zones of the Body; Foot Examination; Reflexology Techniques; Reflexology Health and Session Records; Anatomy & Physiology of Body Systems; Reflexology Foot Procedure; Business & Financial and; Exam Preparation. Course Materials included.

Upon successful completion students will receive:

  • Certificates from Julian Blackburn College at Trent University and the Ontario College of Reflexology.
  • Eligibility for membership in the Reflexology Registration Council of Ontario (RRCO). Membership entitles graduates to use legal designation RRPr* (Registered Reflexology Practitioner) and discounted rates for general and malpractice liability insurance, in addition to several other benefits.
  • 100 credits for entry into the Level II OCR courses

Students of Foot Reflexology Certification Course will be entitled to enroll, at a discounted fee, in a workshop on how to run and sustain a successful private practice to compliment the Certification (course date to be announced).

Instructor Annie Gelfand, MBA, RRPr*, CAHP is a qualified instructor for the Ontario College of Reflexology and a Certified Instructor of Meditation & Theory of Yoga. She is an active advocate for Holistic Practitioners in Ontario in her role on the Reflexology Registration Council of Ontario (RRCO) and Vice-President of the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists.

Ms. Gelfand has a Masters of Business Administration in Strategic Marketing from the University of Toronto. She now runs a private practice in Peterborough as an author, seminar leader and practitioner.

Dates:

  • Six Mondays: October 3, 17, 24 and 31 and November 7 and 14 from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
  • Two Saturdays November 19 and 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
