FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TRENT UNIVERSITY'S PETERBOROUGH CAMPUSES CLOSED

Thursday, July 15, 2004

Due to the State of Emergency declared by the City, all of Trent University's operations in the City of Peterborough are closed for today.

Faculty, staff and students are requested not to travel to the campus. Busing services across the City are cancelled including bus services to the University.

A skeleton crew of staff are on campus to check facilities and electrical systems for safety purposes. Safety and road conditions permitting, essential staff only are requested to come in to work to assist with the response to this emergency.

The Athletics summer camp is closed today. Campers in the overnight program are safe and have been removed to Lakefield College School because of minor water leakage in the Athletics facility. Their parents have been contacted to make arrangements for a pick up time.

Orientations for new student and parents are cancelled for today and for tomorrow Friday, July 16.

The Trent International Program breakfast scheduled to take place at the Bata Library this morning was cancelled.

Additional information about the status of the closure will be posted on the University's web site as soon as it is available.
