FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

International Alumni Reunion to Celebrate the 21st Anniversary of the Trent International Program:July 9 - 11

Reunion Theme:  "TIP's Past, Present and Future"

July 9, 2004 Peterborough

International alumni of Trent University are coming from all over the world this weekend to celebrate the 21st  year of the Trent International Program (TIP). TIP is the University's core and catalyst for Trent's internationalization. And at the heart of that internationalization, has been a significant group of outstanding students representing more than 100 countries.

Alumni from as far away as Thailand are coming to the reunion. Ghana, Senegal, Jamaica, Singapore, Germany, and Bermuda are just some of the other countries that will be represented. While some alumni have travelled from far for the event, many are coming from Toronto or Ottawa, where their Trent education has led them to leadership careers.

In addition to international alumni, many Canadian Trent students, whose involvement with TIP took the form of study abroad experiences, will participate in the reunion.

The weekend will provide an opportunity to recall the history and successes expressed by the Trent International Program's core values:

"We believe that every Trent student should have the opportunity to develop his or her sense of global citizenship by living, learning, and making lasting friendships with people from many parts of the world."

A maple tree symbolizing the depth of Trent's global roots, the strength of TIP's accomplishments, and the University's potential for an international future will be planted in the university's memorial garden as a centerpiece for the reunion.
