Trent University Annual Fund has Record Year

May 16, 2003

Trent University’s Annual Fund has surpassed last year’s total by 22% and was 10% over goal, setting an all-time record of $328,000.

The University’s Development Office had set a goal of $300,000 for this year’s Annual Fund which wound up on April 30, 2003. Helping to put the goal over the top was an exceptionally successful "leadership giving" drive within the campaign, co-chaired by alumni Alex and Carol Campbell, encouraged alumni to give lead gifts of $500 or more. The leadership giving portion of the campaign raised almost 45% of the total.

The Annual Fund is a year-round fundraising activity at Trent University encompassing direct mail and telephone solicitation to employees, alumni, parents, friends, and the University’s Board of Governors. Employee giving increased by 44% and the Board of Governors participation rate in the campaign was 100%.

" The success of this year’s annual fund is a sign of many good things," said Sherry Booth, Coordinator of Annual Giving at Trent University. "Our alumni are coming of age and our staff and volunteer support are at an all-time high. There is confidence in the mission of the University and the direction our leaders are taking. There’s a groundswell of support. It’s a very exciting time at Trent."

Over 35 enthusiastic Trent University students made up the phone-a-thon team this year. Funds raised will go to campus improvement, bursaries, scholarships, prizes and awards, the library, departments, colleges, and student services.

Trent University’s Development Office continues to campaign for support of research and the new buildings which are currently under construction on the east bank.
