TRENT BOARD APPROVES AGREEMENT WITH FACULTY ASSOCIATION

Trent University’s Board of Governors and the Trent University Faculty Association have reached a settlement on the renewal of a collective agreement which covers full-time faculty and librarians.

The new contract is for a term of three years from July 1, 2002 to June 30, 2005. The ratification by the association was 95 per cent in favour of the agreement.

A key focus of the renewed contract was the provision of more support to faculty, in response to increasing student enrollment, as a result of the double cohort.

"The settlement provides a secure labour environment at Trent University through the critical years of the double cohort," says Associate Vice President of Human Resources David Mahy. "With the contract negotiations completed, faculty and staff can continue the process of preparing for the double cohort."
