Executive Director at the Sierra Club of Canada, Elizabeth May, to Speak to Trent Community on March 28

Environmentalist, Writer, Activist and Lawyer to Speak to Organizational Sustainability Class

All Trent faculty, staff and students are invited to join the ADMN 445h Organizational Sustainability class on Tuesday, March 28 as they welcome Elizabeth May who will be speaking as part of the Bank of Montreal Guest Speaker Series.

Ms. May is an environmentalist, writer, activist, and lawyer. She has held the position of Executive Director at the Sierra Club of Canada since 1989. Ms. May is also a member of the Board of the International Institute of Sustainable Development and is the former vice-chair of the National Roundtable on the Environment and the Economy.

In 1999, Dalhousie University created a permanent chair in her honour, entitled the Elizabeth May Chair in Women's Health and the Environment.
Ms. May has received numerous awards for her work, including the United Nations Global 500 Award and two honourary doctorates. In 2005, Ms. May was appointed as an Officer to the Order of Canada. She is also the author of four books: Budworm Battles (1982), Paradise Won: The Struggle to Save South Moresby (1990), At the Cutting Edge: The Crisis in Canada's Forests (1998) and, with Maude Barlow, Frederick Street: Life and Death on Canada's Love Canal (2000).

Anyone interested in attending the talk is invited to join the ADMN 445h class in Gzowski College, Room 115 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon on March 28.
