Lucy Maud Montgomery's Influence on Canadian Literature |

Prof. Steffler's lecture, titled "The Voice of Canadian Girlhood: L.M. Montgomery's Anne," will address the influence of Ms. Montgomery's voice on Canadian literature. Ms. Montgomery's character Anne Shirley has become a Canadian voice recognized and loved around the world. As well, the popularity of Montgomery's work, both nationally and internationally, continues to grow. Prof. Steffler's teaching and research interests include Canadian and Children's Literature. She has published articles on Ms. Montgomery's novels and journals. The lecture will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Peterborough Public Library. Everyone is welcome. The Rooke Lectures are sponsored by the Barbara Rooke Fund. The 2005-06 series honours the late Gordon Roper, Professor Emeritus at Trent University.
