iHUB Hosts Guest Speaker Prof. William Woof

Trent University Professor William Woof gave a talk on independent science on Tuesday, November 8 at Lady Eaton College. The lecture, followed by a discussion session was hosted by iHUB, a student-led organization at Trent University.

During his talk, Prof. Woof discussed the connection between university research and private sector and government funding, particularly in the area of health research.

According to Trent student Leonid Urlichich, iHUB's founder, the issue has provoked much discussion and debate.

"People are interested in this," he said, adding that it is important the issue is brought forward to understand the implications of independent versus dependent science.

His organization is dedicated to uniting people to work together to solve global problems and raise the world's quality of life through science.

"iHUB tries to act as a coordination centre to save civilization from global problems. We want to raise the quality of life for everyone using science and we want scientists to answer the questions around these issues," said Mr. Urlichich.
