Hundreds turned out under warm sunny skies to line the banks of the Otonabee River as the Trent University rowing team hosted the 35th annual Head of the Trent Regatta, Saturday, October 1.

Leading the way for Trent was Lauren Chewter. Lauren won the women's lightweight single, and helped stroke the women's heavyweight 8 to a bronze medal.

In other races, the Trent heavyweight coxed women's 4 captured the bronze medal and the men's lightweight coxed four added another bronze for Trent.

"It was a great day for us, Lauren rowed real well. I'm very happy for her – that was a big win against some good competition," said Head Coach Carol Love.

On the athletic field, the Trent University men's and women's soccer teams hosted the Queen's Golden Gaels, as part of the Head of the Trent Homecoming weekend.

In the men's game, Trent midfielder Eli Adansi received a red card at the eight minute mark of the match. The red card forced Trent to play a man down against the OUA East Division leaders. It proved to be too much as Queen's won the match by a score of 2-0.

"We defended really well today considering we were down a man. Queen's is a good team, we look forward to playing them next week," said Head Coach Claude Bolton.

In the women's game, Trent held the 6th ranked team in the country off the scoreboard until the 85th. Trent would later add a lone goal, as Queen's won the match by a score of 2-0.

Next weekend, Trent travels to Kingston to play Queen's University and the Royal Military College.

Trent Rugby

The Trent University men's rugby team lost to the University of Windsor by a score of 15-5, Sunday, October 2. Scoring for Trent was 8-man Josh Connor. With the loss Trent drops to 2-3 on the season. Trent hosts the Carleton Ravens, Friday, October, 7 at 1 p.m.

Cross Country

The Trent University cross country team traveled to Kitchener, Saturday October 1, to compete in the Waterloo Open. Zekarias Habtmichael had another strong performance as he finished in second with a time of 29:47 on the 8.8 km course. Mike Minor finished 16th (31:59).

In the women's race, Chantal Gagne finished in 32nd place with a time of 19:26 for the 4.4km course. Stephanie Mitchell finished 34th (34.33), and Rachel Herron finished 57th (20:51).
