Students, Alumni, Faculty and Staff all invited to experience Trent Unplugged!

33rd annual Trent Temagami Weekend takes place from September 22 to 25 at Camp Wanapitei

Each September, a large Trent contingent makes its way up to Camp Wanapitei, on the shores of lake Temagami, to participate in an event that is equal parts academic conference and adventure.

The Trent Temagami Weekend celebrates original research. Evening presentations and discussions are on an eclectic range of topics from the environmental history of Ontario's Near North, to indigenous worldviews, to the politics of surfing. Meanwhile, days are spent taking in the beauty and history of the Temagami region via canoe, hikes, and other activities on the land.

The weekend is also about sharing: among Canadian, Aboriginal, and international students of diverse backgrounds; and among students and teachers of different disciplines. The sharing of traditional skills, music and dance (including a Saturday night square dance) is another highlight.

These activities all take place in conjunction with the annual Aboriginal Studies Colloquium, enabling participants to attend a variety of panel discussions and presentations on current Aboriginal issues.

This four day event costs only $109 for undergraduate students and $178 for graduate students, faculty, and alumni. These low fees are made possible thanks to subsidies provided by the following departments and programs at Trent: Canadian Studies; Environmental and Resource Studies; Indigenous Environmental Studies; Native Studies; Sociology, and the Trent International Program.

Individuals interested in participating can find the registration forms and waivers at the following address http://Wanapitei.net/trentweekend.asp as well as participating program/department offices. Registration will be capped at 100 participants.
