Public Meeting on Shari'a Law to Feature Guest Speaker Homa Arjomand

The Effect of Shari'a/faith-based Court on Women's Rights

Homa Arjomand, coordinator of the International Campaign Against Shari'a Court in Canada, will speak at a public meeting on Wednesday, August 31.

Ms. Arjomand, a Muslim woman of Iranian origin, will speak against applying Shari'a to family law in Ontario.

The event, The Effect of Shari'a/faith-based Court on Women's Rights, is sponsored by the Trent Central Student Association. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. at the Peterborough Public Library, 345 Aylmer St. N., Peterborough.

There will be no charge for the event but donations to the campaign are encouraged.
