Go Behind the Scenes at Trent: May 14

Wonder what's happening at Trent University these days? The Advancement Office invites you to come and find out on Saturday, May 14 from 11 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the Behind the Scenes Tour.

The tour will offer an opportunity to get a glimpse of some of the newest and some of the oldest features of Trent. President Bonnie Patterson will welcome guests and provide an update on University happenings at 11 a.m. at Peter Gzowski College and the First Peoples House of Learning on the east bank of the Symons Campus.

"Trent University Foundation and the Annual Fund are hosting this event. The original plan was to invite a few of our local supporters but these presentations are too good to reserve for just a few people," says Katie Brown, planned giving coordinator. "Come and enjoy the company of friends, refreshments and presentations by outstanding Trent faculty."

The tour includes the following:

* The Real CSI: The Swab as a Forensic Tool for DNA Profiling

You can have your DNA profiled and sent to you after the tour (cost: $20), presented by Dr. Bradley White, Canada Research Chair and Director, DNA Profiling and Forensics Centre.

* From Human Performance to Business Performance

A presentation by Dr. Ed Ng, of the Business Administration Program.

* Sights and Sounds of the First Peoples House of Learning performance space (2 p.m. only)

A multimedia showcase at Trent's newest facility, presented by Prof. Marrie Mumford, Canada Research Chair in Aboriginal Arts and Literature and a member of the Native Studies department.

* Peterborough's Past - The 19th Century in Maps, Photos and Documents

A presentation by Trent Archivist Dr. Bernadine Dodge.

If you cannot stay for the whole tour, guests are welcome for individual sessions also.

Registrations are welcome up until noon on Friday, May 13, 2005. Further details and directions will be provided when you register to attend by calling 705-748-1011, ext. 5311 or e-mail afund@trentu.ca.
