"Find Yourself At Trent" Wins Silver Prix D'Excellence from the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education

June 21, 2004

The creators of Trent University's Viewbook - Find Yourself at Trent University - are to be congratulated, having received a Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) silver Prix D'Excellence in the best student recruitment viewbook category. The award was recently presented at the CCAE national conference in Halifax.

The Prix D'Excellence is an annual awards program that recognizes outstanding achievement in alumni affairs, public affairs, development, student recruitment and overall institutional advancement - entries are assessed by advancement colleagues and external professional judges. Team members Krista Effer, Spencer Harrison, Allan Barnfield and Susan Salusbury (from the Office of the Registrar), staff from the Communications Office, and Valerie Strain of Janus Design, have been recognized by the award.

The Viewbook goes to prospective students and applicants, and is an overview of who we are and what Trent University can offer; it highlights programs of study and admission requirements as well as student services and extracurricular activities. The Viewbook is created through the Office of the Registrar, though Susan Salusbury, Trent University registrar, says it's truly a collaborative publication.

"All academic support services and academic departments play a role by providing us with information," she says. "A lot of people will share in the award."

The award-winning viewbook had been completely redesigned for the 2004 recruitment cycle; the 2005 version will have a similar look and design.

"The award is very exciting; it's an honour to be recognized by our peers within the university community. Of course Trent University, with its quality programs, award winning faculty, emphasis on support for the individual student and a truly beautiful natural environment, is always a wonderful basis for our recruitment publications" says Ms. Salusbury.
