Celebrating Long Service to Trent

For Director of Alumni Affairs Tony Storey, the things that have stayed the same throughout his 25-year tenure at Trent University, are quicker to come to mind than the things that have changed.

Mr. Storey and four other staff members were honoured on June 9 at Trent's 25-Year Service Awards Luncheon. The honourees were joined by other staff and faculty members who had previously celebrated their 25-year milestones; 81 individuals marked 30 years with Trent in the 2004 calendar year, while 33 individuals celebrated 35 years. Presentations to the four honourees present, were made by Vice-President (Human Resources) David Mahy, President Bonnie Patterson and Board of Governors Chair Reid Morden.

President Patterson thanked the honourees and all those in attendance for their long service - "Our congratulations, our thanks and our appreciation."

In reflection, Mr. Storey says he meets first-year students today, who are having the same experiences, as students were 25 years ago. Personal contact with professors, leadership opportunities available to students and an interdisciplinary approach have been constant over the last quarter century, adds Mr. Storey.

"It's the fact that the same core values have been retained in the face of great change," he says.

Meanwhile, other honourees remarked about how much the physical size of the campus had changed over the last 25 years, as well as how it is continuing to grow.

Congratulations to the following individuals for 25 years of service to Trent University:
