Summer Student Newspaper to Launch

Arts and culture, community events, news, and editorial will be the focus of Toast - a new student newspaper from the creators of Arthur, to be published twice this summer.

Geared toward an audience of students who attend Trent University during the summer months, and those who stay in Peterborough, Toast will be published on June 25 and July 23. The Federal Government Summer Career Placement program has funded positions for two students to publish this summer paper.

Toast is currently inviting local businesses, services, writers and artists to take part in this new endeavour. Editors are accepting news stories, editorials, reviews, poems, creative writing, and art, from members of the Trent and Peterborough communities.

"Advertising or writing in Toast is an excellent way to reach out to a highly educated and informed audience," states a media release.

Ideas for stories will be discussed at an upcoming story meeting on June 9 at 3 p.m. at Stratton House at 740 Water Street. For further information, contact Nathaniel Christopher, managing editor, 748-1725 or visit the web site at http://www.nathaniel.ca/toast/.
