Career Centre Tips for Graduating Students

The Career Centre is available to assist graduating students in exploring career options, preparing for a work search, finding opportunities and career management. Here are some of the ways the Career Centre can assist you as a graduating student.

The Career Centre provides on-line self-assessment tools to help you identify and focus your interests and career choices. Visit www.trentu.ca/careers/students/selfassess.html.

  • Throughout the summer you can still meet with Career Centre staff to help you plan for your career, find employment, or have your resume critiqued. Contact the Career Centre to make an appointment.
  • Not sure what you can do with your degree? Check out the University of Guelph's WEBmajors Project (http://www.careerservices.uoguelph.ca/college) for employment and career related resources specific to your major. Stay tuned this fall for Trent's own "Career Options Project" to explore specific discipline information for Trent students and graduates.
  • The Career Centre resource library has a whole section dedicated to post-graduate and professional programs for those interested in pursuing their education beyond Trent. Also visit the CanLearn Interactive site for more educational information. www.canlearn.ca
  • As a new graduate, you may benefit from the Alumni-Student Mentoring program. Visit www.trentu.ca/careers/mentoring to learn more about this online initiative that connects Trent students with alumni to learn about specific career paths and seek advice.
  • Looking for an alternate way to gain experience other than work? Consider internships, volunteering, traveling, education - there are many ways gain transferable work skills. Visit http://www.trentu.ca/careers/students/linkindex.html to explore your career options.
  • Visit the resource library for career planning, occupational, employer & organizational, work search, government, travel, self employment and internship information. Champlain College, Room 204.
