Student delegation represents Trent at McGill Model UN

A six-student delegation from the Trent Model United Nations Society represented the University at the 2004 McGill Model United Nations Assembly (McMUN) in Montreal from January 22 to 25. With more than 1,250 delegates, McMUN is one of the premier university-level Model UN conferences in North America and the largest in Canada; it is organized by more than 200 McGill University students.

Trent's Adam Feather was named best Delegate in the Canadian Cabinet simulation while Tedd Cragg and Genevieve Gorski were published in the Ambassador - the conference newspaper. The conference also has its own cable news show - McNN. Other Trent participants included Benjamin Ball, Jeff Pamenter and Emiliee Whetung.

Delegates came from eastern Canada as well as from the United States and the keynote speaker was Middle Eastern expert and Professor of political science at McGill Rex Brynen. The conference featured 18 simulations including General Assembly committees, ECOSOC committees, and ten specialized agencies and crises committees.

"It's an awesome feeling," says Mr. Feather. "Being able to take the theories I've learned in class, apply what I've learned to real world situations, and debate my solution within a mock-political framework."
