Watershed Ecosystems Graduate Student, Pauline Quesnelle, wins CSPP President's Award
The following excerpt is taken from the citation given by the judges: "She addressed a difficult topic that challenges current views of the roles of cis-cytokinins convincingly. The study involved great technical and intellectual skill to link the cis-cytokinins clearly and persuasively to pea embryo development. She also showed an ability to communicate her results in an engaging, interesting, exciting way through the effective use of PowerPoint technology. Pauline
Quesnelle, a Watershed Ecosystems Graduate student, has won the CSPP
(Canadian Society of Plant Physiologists) Presidents' Award for Best
Oral Presentation at the annual Plant Canada 2003 Meeting held in Antigonish,
NS in June 2003. Pauline gave a talk entitled 'Trans vs cis: the role
of cytokinin isomers during pea embryogenesis' (co-authored with Neil
Emery of the Biology Department). She was given a cash prize
of $500 and a certificate.
