Trent University Librarian Reappointed

Vice President (Academic) Graham Taylor has announced that the Board of Governors has approved the reappointment of Tom Eadie as University Librarian for a three-year term, from July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2006.

Mr. Eadie became the University Librarian at Trent in September 1997, after having served as University Librarian at Mount Allison University from 1987-92, and Director of Libraries at the University of Calgary from 1992-97. In addition to holding the library position, Mr. Eadie was Director of Information Services at Trent from 1997-2003, encompassing Computing and Telecommunications Services and the Audio-Visual Department. The reappointment is specifically for the position of University Librarian.

Mr. Eadie was recommended for reappointment following an intensive review committee process involving consultation with library staff, faculty and students. In his second term, Mr. Eadie will be focusing on double cohort issues that affect library services; the development of new collections in support of the nursing and education programs; and the renewal of library collections, overall.

" I am pleased that Tom Eadie is continuing as University Librarian," said Vice President Taylor. "The last five years have been challenging, dealing with financial constraints and the impact of technology on the University library environment. The Board of Governors has approved a strategy to support renewal of the library collections over the next several years, and it will provide Tom with an opportunity to develop collections and improve services in the library."
