From Inhuman Soil:
Documentary to be shown on Dec. 11

A Forgotten Odyssey, a film by Jagna Wright and Aneta Naszynska, will be shown at the Wenjack Theatre on Wednesday, December 11 at 6:30 p.m.

This documentary tells the story of the 1.7 million Polish citizens who were deported by Stalin in 1939 -after he invaded Poland from the east, just 16 days after Hitler attacked from the west - and transported to the Soviet Gulag.

Following the premiere of this film at the Imperial War Museum in London, in 2001, the producers made a 10-city tour of Canada and the United States. Since then, A Forgotten Odyssey has been broadcast by the History Channel (UK) and several PBS stations in the US.

The presentation of the film at Trent is sponsored by the Polish Combatants Association Branch 15, the Polish Canadian Cultural Heritage Association in Peterborough, and the Trent University History Department. A discussion will follow the showing with researcher and writer Helen Bajorek MacDonald and journalist P. Bonikowska.
