The festive spirit:
Bookstore and Connections Office gear up for Christmas

As Christmas approaches, the Trent University Bookstore and the Connections Office are offering some special products, and pricing, for members of the Trent community who would like to do some shopping on campus.

Barb Reeves, manager of the Trent Bookstore, has planned a ten-day holiday sale, starting on December 2 and running until December 13. On each day of the sale, a 25 per cent discount will be offered on specific items. The discounted items are: jackets on December 2, crew-neck sweatshirts on December 3, micro/polar fleece on December 4, back packs on December 5, coloured gel pens on December 6, wall calendars on December 9, Trent imprinted items on December 10, plush toys on December 11, Mead zipper binders on December 12 and TAC-On products on December 13.

As well, a faculty and staff appreciation day will be held on December 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Complimentary refreshments will be served and a 25 per cent discount will be offered on all regular- and sale-priced merchandise (excluding textbooks, software and professional reference books).

The Connections Office, located just down the hall from the Bookstore, is offering an expanded product line this year. Items such as digital cameras, palm pilots, CD-Rom drives, cables and more are available in their store. As well, pre-paid long distance calling cards can be purchased.

"We are affiliated with Campus Retail Canada," explains Ron Krieg, manager of Network and Telecommunications. "They do large group buys and so we are able to offer very low prices to students and others at Trent."

Mr. Krieg adds that his team has been working for four years to establish phone service and data service in all residence rooms at Trent, working in partnership with Bell Canada. While working on these projects, it became clear to Mr. Krieg that Trent students needed the convenience of buying related items on campus.

"We started by offering some cables and ethernet cards, and it has grown from there," he says.

So, as you make your Christmas shopping list, don’t forget to stop by these two on-campus locations. There are lots of products to choose from and both Ms. Reeves and Mr. Krieg would be happy to meet you.
