    Searching

    • Use natural language for a broad search, or use and/or to be more specific. 
    • Use quotes ("") for phrases; spaces are treated as "and".

    Note: When you use natural language, only the first 1000 results are presented.  When you use boolean operators, the first 3000 are shown.

    Caninuit

    Caninuit is an annotated source of information about the magazines, journals, newspapers and newsletters of Canada's Inuit peoples and communities. This web site was created in 2008 and the annotations are being updated and augmented regularly by the editor. Caninuit can be browsed by title or category, or searched in anyword (Find) mode.

    Most entries in the Caninuit database reference periodical publications which deal predominently with Canadian Inuit and their communities. Some entries describe library catalogues, indexes, bibliographies, and other sources of information about Inuit periodicals.

    This scholarly business database provides the leading collection of bibliographic and full text content, with indexing and abstracts for more than 1,200 of the most important business journals back as far as 1886. It also contains detailed author profiles for the 20,000 most-cited authors in the database. Journal ranking studies reveal that Business Source Complete is the superior database for full text journals in all disciplines of business, including marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance and economics.

    Bibliography Of Native North Americans

    Description: 

    The Bibliography of Native North Americans, from Human Relations Area Files (HRAF), is an electronic publication that contains the citations from the cumulative eight volumes of the Ethnographic Bibliography of North America as well as additional new citations.

    The Bibliography of Native North Americans contains citations to literature about native peoples of North America published from the sixteenth century to the present. Native North Americans include Aleuts; Eskimos or Inuit of Greenland, northern Canada, Alaska, and eastern Siberia; and other native peoples of Alaska, Canada, the United States, and Mexico north of the northern boundary of Mesoamerica.

    All citations are to published materials: books, journal articles, essays, conference papers, and US and Canadian government documents.

    The Bibliography of Native North Americans is available through the EBSCOhost interface, and can be searched simultaneously with other EBSCO databases by selecting them at the "Choose Databases" screen. Including Academic Search Elite may increase the number of results you find.

    Artemis Literary Sources

    Description: 

    Artemis is Gale's search engine for the MLA International Bilbiography (MLA) and Literature Resource Center (LRC) databases. 

    • MLA is an extensive database of journal article citations from over 4,000 journals. 
    • LRC is smaller database of full-text reference books and articles.

    Search both databases simultaneously. 

    • Search by person (by or about), name of work, keyword.
    • Limit results by content type, document type, publication title.

    • Term frequency: a diagram of how often your terms appear in works over time.
    • Term clusters: a diagram of where your search terms appear.

    MLA International Bibliography indexes books, articles and dissertations published on modern languages, literatures, folklore, and linguistics, providing coverage from 1926 to the present. It includes the MLA Thesaurus and the MLA Directory of Periodicals, which lists detailed information on over 5,500 journals, including over 4,400 indexed in the Bibliography

    Literature Resource Center provides up-to-date biographical information, overviews, full-text literary criticism and reviews on more than 130,000 writers in all disciplines, from all time periods and from around the world.

    The Artemis interface was introduced in February 2014, eliminating the previous Gale interface.

    Annee Philologique

    Availability: 
    Description: 

    L’Année Philologique, published by the Société Internationale de Bibliographie Classique, is a specialized bibliographic database of scholarly works relating to all aspects of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. Its subjects are:

    • Greek and Latin literature and linguistics, including early Christian texts and patristics
    • Greek and Roman history, art, archaeology, philosophy, religion, mythology, music, science
    • scholarly subspecialties such as numismatics, papyrology and epigraphy.

    L’Année Philologique contains more than 810,000 records and includes citations to journal articles and books in over 40 languages. Abstracts of journal articles are in English, German, Spanish, French or Italian depending on the place of publication (i.e. French publications will be indexed with French abstracts even if the article itself is written in English). Books entries often include tables of contents and book review information.

    L’Année philologique database includes all volumes of the annual index, beginning with Volume I published in 1928.

    The records are classified in a two-part system:

    • Ancient authors and texts
    • Subjects and disciplines.

    America: History and Life

    America: History and Life is a complete bibliographic reference to the history of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. Published since 1964, the database comprises over 490,000 bibliographic entries, providing an incomparable research tool for students and researchers of US and Canadian history.

    This extensive database covers over 2,000 journals published worldwide. In addition to covering all key English-language historical journals, America: History and Life coverage includes selected historical journals from major countries, state and local history journals, and a targeted selection of hundreds of journals in the social sciences and humanities. Over 90% of the articles included are published in English-language journals.

    In addition to articles, each year America: History and Life includes approximately 6,000 citations of book and media reviews from a selection of over one hundred key journals in US and Canadian history and related fields. The database also includes citations to abstracts of dissertations published in these areas.

    The powerful search engine includes features that are particularly useful for History, such as searching for the year or time period of the subject matter.

    Academic Search Elite provides full text for more than 2,000 journals, including more than 1,500 peer-reviewed titles. In addition to the full text, indexing and abstracts are provided for all 3,484 journals in the collection.

    This database offers information in nearly every area of academic study including: computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies and more. Examples of titles offered in Academic Search Elite include: American Historical Review, American Journal of Political Science, American Libraries, American Sociologist, British Journal of Psychology, British Journal of Sociology, Central European History, Contemporary Literature, Early American Literature, Journal of Social Psychology, Library Journal, Social Forces, Sociological Review, Theological Studies, Women's Studies, etc.

    In addition to journal coverage, Academic Search Elite provides full text information from a variety of source-types such as scholarly monographs.
