Biography / History

The Association for Canadian Studies was founded in 1973 at Queen's University as a Pan-Canadian, non-profit organization which sought to promote a knowledge of Canada at the post-secondary level through teaching, research, and publications. In addition to its primary interest in post-secondary research and teaching, the Association maintains ties with all levels of education. A founding member of the International Council for Canadian Studies, the ACS is also a member of the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and the Social Science Federation of Canada.
