Biography / History

The Oxford Bibliographical Society developedout of the University of Oxfords' vast publishing and librarydomain by members of the university community interested in bookcollections and publishing. It was founded on January 1, 1922at Oxford and the Society met twice a term. The first meetingconsisted of conversational lectures and the second meeting consistedof papers presented by members, or guests, and discussions. Thesecond meeting was reserved for exhibitions of important books,manuscripts and bindings. The Society had a council and subscriptionfees. (Taken from: Oxford Bibliographical Society.
